The security guard's design was largely influenced by Cobra Bubbles from Lilo & Stitch, which just came out when this comic was made (Yes, they're that old!)
This also marks the first online appearance of Mr. Blob, a character that was written out of the strip long before it went on the web. In what can only be defined as a shark-jumping moment, Mr. Blob was an alien that evolved from a record player (no, seriously) and whose catchphrase was "Darnie". Good riddance! However, with Goober and Cindy ending, someone else might need to fill the gap...
